Comfort Fall Art Walk brings artists, demonstrations, shopping
More than 40 Texas Hill Country artists will display and sell their works at the Comfort Fall Art Walk on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Artists will greet shoppers and have displays in 15 stores throughout the downtown historic district and along Highways 27 and 87. A variety of media will be featured from woodcarvings and oil paintings to fiber art and metal work.
Art Walk hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a listing of artists and their locations will be available at participating merchants.
“Many visitors have come to rely on Comfort as a great source for antiques and home d©cor items,” said Jan Warren, owner of The Heart Cottage in Comfort and event organizer.
“The one-of-a-kind pieces of art that will be displayed complement our great selection of antiques. The Art Walk also is a wonderful way for our merchants to support Hill Country artists and for shoppers to learn more about the many talented artists who draw their inspiration and creativity from the beauty of the Hill Country.”
Some of the featured artists are Darrin Potter of Ingram, who creates masterpieces of sculptured wildlife using cypress and mesquite driftwood found in and around waterways from Texas to Louisiana. He will be at Juniper Green Antiques.
Jane Perilloux of Comfort will demonstrate triangular loom weaving at The Tinsmith’s Wife.
Bobbye Burow of Comfort, who works in oils, will be at The Frog and the Dragonfly, and Greg Guedel, a woodcarver from Indianapolis, known for his hand carved Halloween and Christmas pieces. He will work on a carving at The Heart Cottage.
