Carl Landinger Sr.

Landinger

Sept. 6, 1937 – April 8, 2024

Carl C Sr. passed peacefully at home in the early morning of April 8, 2024, after promising to wait to ensure that every single family member knew how important they were to him.

His wait was a true act of selflessness since he was anxious to be reunited with the love of his life, Edith Maxine Schoeneck. His last words to her before her passing were, “See you soon.” Carl was a man of his word.

Funeral services for Carl will be held on April 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Longview, Texas. A brief visitation before the funeral will begin at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview.

Carl was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to parents Simon and Elizabeth. As in his death, Carl lived his life for others. In his eyes, his greatest accolade was being Christian. To others, Carl was an unwavering source of unconditional love, a generous provider, a steadfast source of wisdom and compassion and the very best storyteller.

Carl married on April 26, 1958, and spent the next 65 years building a life on a solid foundation.

Although Carl would humbly disclose that he worked as an electrical engineer, he typically glossed over the fact that he held several patents, wrote books and was often called upon for lectures and consulting long past the time that most people settle into retirement.

Carl also proudly served in the U.S. Army, twice, and was a tireless volunteer for several Christian and charitable organizations.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents as well as his beloved wife.

Those left to cherish their memories include three children, Carl Jr., David and Karen Brosien; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

But if you ask around, you will quickly learn that Carl opened his heart, door and pocketbook to many others who also thought of him as “Dad” and are equally broken-hearted.

Carl’s comfort, guidance and laughter will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
