LIFESTYLES
CELEBRATING THE ARTS
Bring your family and friends, blankets and lawn chairs, and come help us celebrate our country’s birthday at 7 p.m. July 6 on the Main Plaza in Boerne.
Enjoy patriotic selections by the Boerne Concert Band, including the Star Spangled Spectacular; America the Beautiful; The Liberty Bell and Washington Post Marches; Hands Across the Sea; Glenn Miller in Concert; Big Band Superhits; and Stars and Stripes Forever.
In case of rain, the concert will take place in the Boerne High School auditorium.
The Boerne Concert Band is a community band based in Boerne with members from diverse backgrounds, including lifelong musicians, high school and middle school students, retired band directors, and military veterans.
The band is directed by Larry Schmidt, who began directing the band in 2008. Schmidt, a graduate of Southwest Texas State University with degrees in music, also spent time in the 4th and 5th Army Bands, serving as a trumpet section leader and jazz band director.
