Library trips, events, programs, hours

Library trips, events, programs, hours

Color us happy with the crowds

Our June “Color Our World” programs and attendance were out of this world. All ages were treated to entertaining and informative events that kept them coming back for more.

Each week, children enjoyed storytimes, colorful critters and culinary treats. We also offered Pee Wee Pinspirations for the first time.

Adults got to participate in our weekly Lattes at the Library, where a different artist or art expert stopped by to share their immense knowledge on a variety of art topics. Teens played games, did crafts, took part in our chalk fest and much more.

We wrapped up the month with an adoption event for kitties, where people of all ages played with adorable kittens. Doesn’t that sound dreamy?

July programs

We are only halfway through the summer, so there’s still plenty of time to participate. Adults can attend three more weekly Lattes at the Library on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. For adults and teens, we are offering “Magic the Gathering” tournament on July 7 at 6 p.m., a board-game night on July 11 at 6 p.m., and a bookcover craft on July 24 at 6 p.m.

Little ones can continue participating in our weekly storytimes as well as cooking classes and petting zoos. To get a better idea of what is available, please visit our website calendar at boernelibrary. org.

Live! at the Library

On July 17 at 7 p.m., the Covenants Creek Band will take the amphitheater stage to play some lively music. Straight from the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Covenants Creek delivers a unique and energetic spin on your favorite folk rock tunes.

With hits from Tom Petty and George Strait to the soulful grooves of the Eagles and Otis Redding, this dynamic group brings the perfect soundtrack for a great time. Just bring your seats or blankets, and perhaps even a picnic dinner.

This monthly event is part of our free Live! at the Library concert series.

Invigorating conference

Alicia Owens and I recently attended the American Library Association’s annual conference, which took place in Philadelphia. She and I split up and participated in a large array of sessions that inspired us and provided us with tools to help us better serve you.

Additionally, we made sure to check out the massive exhibit hall filled with wonderful new gadgets and materials. Of course, we also set aside time to take in the sights, including the Liberty Bell and famous steps that Rocky bounded up in the first movie of the franchise.

Amazing bookshop

Did you know the library has its very own used bookstore run entirely by volunteers? It’s called the Bookshop Under the Windmill and is located just next door to the library. You can stop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

The Friends of the Boerne Public Library group accepts donations of gently used books, movies, magazines, puzzles and more. Feel free to drop off your donations at the library during our regular business hours.

If we’re unable to add them to the library’s collection, they’ll be sent to the bookshop. Proceeds from every sale go directly toward supporting the library’s programs and services.
