LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Drawing lines

Editor, There was a time when this nation performed a Census every 10 years. After the census was taken; new Congressional lines were drawn.

Today that is all out the window.

Several years ago, in between census counts, Republican lawmakers decided to redraw Congressional lines. They were successful, thus began the dominance of the Republican party in Texas.

Again, today MAGA Republican Gov. Greg Abbott is calling a special session to redraw Congressional districts.

MAGA Republicans can’t win elections without resorting to rigging the election process. So when you think your vote doesn’t count ... this is why.

One of the first rules should be a fact check. A quick check of "Gerrymandering" on Google (Gerrymandering: The Origin Story) shows this did not start "a few years back." It started in March of 1812 and was a reference to Gov. Elbridge Gerry at the request of his governing Democratic-Republican Party. This has been practiced by both parties over the last two centuries. This is essentially what today's Democrats were doing on a much larger scale allowing millions of illegal immigrants to cross our borders and then sending them to heavily Democrat cities (Boston, NY, Chicago, Los Angeles, etc.) to be counted in the next Census. You see, all residents are counted in a census. Those who can't vote still get to be counted and these millions of trespassers help the Democrat-controlled cities gain additional House of Representative seats. Our tax dollars are supporting (phones, cash, housing, etc.) those who bypassed the legal entry system to our country so they can get the edge in Congress.
