A couple of area cross country teams will be in action this weekend as they begin the 2025 fall running season.
Boerne Champion
Boerne Champion is scheduled to run at Steele High School this weekend. Chargers coach Shiela West said the girls varsity squad will be missing a few key runners.
National and state champion Elizabeth Leachman is not expected to run at Saturday’s meet and hopes to be back on the course sometime in September as she recovers from injury entering her senior season.
The Chargers are scheduled to run at Westlake on Aug. 22.
Boerne High
The Greyhounds were going to run in Kerrville this weekend but instead had a change of plans. BHS coach Chris Carter said the team will have time trials to determine which runners will run on varsity this year.
The BHS boys finished second in the state last year and returned to Boerne with silver medals in their first year at 5A.
Boerne is also scheduled to run at the Westlake Meet next weekend.
Comfort High
The Bobcat and Deer teams will compete at the Hill Country Rust Buster in Kerrville on Saturday at Kerrville-Schreiner Park.
They’ll be at Cedar Park the following weekend.
Geneva School of Boerne The Eagles aren’t scheduled to run until Aug. 23 at the St. Mary’s Hall Invitational. They’ll follow that up by running at the Central Catholic meet the following weekend.
