AUGUST 23

• BLUEGRASS JAM: Bring your instrument and play along or just come to listen to the Bluegrass Jams while exploring the exhibits and grounds of The AgriCultural at 102 City Park Road. The music runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is a free event with donations welcome.

• KUHLMANN-KING TOURS at 402 E. Blanco Road from noon to 3 p.m. Step back in time to experience and explore how a Boerne family would have lived in the late 1800s. Tours are free but donations are welcome.

• BOERNE MUNICIPAL POOL remains open Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 7 p.m., through Aug. 31. Admission to the pool, at 106 City Park Road, is $4 per person for Boerne residents, and $5 for all others.

• CHUCK WAGON BREAKFAST by Frost Bank. This annual event will be hosted from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Kendall County Fairgrounds Pavilion, 1307 River Road. Stop by for coffee, breakfast, live music and boot shining.

• KENDALL COUNTY FAIR: The 119th annual Kendall County Fair opens Thursday, featuring family fun including a livestock show, rodeo, arts and crafts, food vendors and other entertainment. The fair runs through Sunday evening.

• FALL GARDENING SERIES: This four-part series is designed for plant lovers of all experience levels. Today: “Propagation from Cuttings;” next week, “How to Turn Your Lawn Into a Garden.” Classes at Herff Farm are 6-7:30 p.m.; participation is $35 individually, or $100 for all four weeks. • BOERNE COMMUNITY THEATRE’s latest presentation, “Don’t Talk To The Actors,” opens for a three-weekend run through Sept. 14. • COUNTY FAIR PARADE: The 119th Annual Kendall County Fair parade is set for 10 a.m. on the Hill Country Mile. Floats, marching units, bands and just plain folks come from all over South Texas to participate in the parade. Don’t miss it.
