Champion girls win playoff opener, boys faced Fox Tech Tuesday
SAN ANTONIO – Boerne ISD water polo teams wrapped up the regular season last Saturday and at least one school will send both varsity teams to the playoffs.
The Chargers and Greyhounds faced each other last Saturday in what was supposed to be the last regular-season match for both, but the Champion girls had to play one more to break a tie in the district standings.
Champion ended up winning the district title on both the boys and girls side after the girls lost to Clark in the morning and played them later that day to break the tie.
The Lady Chargers and Clark beat each other in district play and were 9-1 in the standings. In the tiebreaker Saturday afternoon, Champion defeated the Lady Cougars, 10-4, after falling behind 1-0 in the first quarter.
The Champion girls won this year’s league title, while the boys also claimed the district championship with a perfect 10-0 mark.
The Lady Chargers opened the playoffs Monday and defeated Highlands, 18-2, while the Champion boys opened the postseason Tuesday against Fox Tech.
To close out the regular season, Boerne High faced Brandeis and Champion, while the Chargers played Clark and Boerne last Saturday.
