Charger boys win 18th district title in a row

SEGUIN – The Boerne Champion cross country teams will continue their seasons after both varsity squads finished in the top three at Tuesday’s District 26-5A meet in Seguin to advance to regionals.

The Champion boys keep their district win streak alive after winning this year’s title on Tuesday at a dusty Starcke Park. The Charger boys program has won every district title since the school opened in 2008, an impressive streak of 18 straight.

Champion coach Shiela West said this group wasn’t as experienced as some of the other teams, but they rose to the challenge.

“We graduated five seniors last year and only have one senior this year, Adan Valdez,” she said. “They have been committed since the summer, and their confidence has grown throughout the season.
