TAPPS places sanctions on Holy Cross football and volleyball programs

San Antonio Holy Cross saw their football and volleyball programs placed on probation and even had some coaches suspended after they received sanctions and penalties from the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) for rules violations.

Football

The Holy Cross football team was caught using an electronic earpiece in their game with Geneva School of Boerne. No electronic communication is allowed between players and coaches during a game, according to TAPPS.

A meeting was held Monday, and TAPPS announced the penalties Wednesday afternoon.

Holy Cross Head Coach Mike Harrison, Athletic Director Angel Cedillo and Assistant Football Coach Roy Salas all received public reprimands, according to TAPPS.

The Knights football program will be placed on probation through June 30, 2027, while Harrison and Salas will be suspended for three regular-season games. Holy Cross must also forfeit all games where unapproved equipment was present and used, the statement read.

Volleyball

The Holy Cross volleyball program was found to be in violation of coaching restrictions, according to TAPPS.

Cedillo, along with Coaches Melissa Hinojosa and Daniel Hinojosa, received public reprimands, the statement reads.

Both Hinojosa’s are suspended from coaching and are “not eligible for reinstatement until they appear before the TAPPS Executive Board. A request for reinstatement would not be considered before June of 2027,” according to the TAPPS statement.

Also, the Holy Cross volleyball program along with Cedillo and both Hinojosa coaches are on probation through June 30, 2027.
