SAN ANTONIO - Both Champion water polo teams have qualified for the state tournament scheduled for this coming Friday and Saturday in SA.

The Chargers defeated Harlan on the boys and girls side Saturday at the Southwest ISD Aquatics Center in the regional finals to advance to state.

Champion's boys handled the Hawks 17-4 and the Lady Chargers girls defeated the Lady Hawks, 10-2.

This is the fourth year the UIL has allowed water polo and the Charger boys have won the regional title all four years, while this is the girls second title in a row.

Regional Tennis

SAN ANTONIO - Boerne High's hopes of making it to the 5A state team tennis tournament were dashed Friday after Flour Bluff defeated BHS in the regional finals at Blossom.

The Greyhounds were up 4-3 after doubles, but Flour Bluff won 7 of the singles matches to get to 10, while the Hounds won 4 singles matches.

It was tied at 8-8 at one point but the Hornets had a strong finish to win the regional title. The Greyhounds finish second in only their second year as a 5A.

The day before, BHS beat Mission Sharyland Thursday in the semis, 10-7.
