The Boerne Champion boys and girls cross country teams finished third at Monday’s Region IV-5A meet in Corpus Christi and qualified for the 5A state meet set for Friday, Oct. 31 in Round Rock.
The Lady Chargers tallied 115 points and the Champion boys scored 127 points to both finish third.
In the 5A girls race, the top three teams were from District 26-5A, after Smithson Valley and New Braunfels went 1-2.
Boerne High’s Brayden Scott, the 26-5A district winner, will advance to state as well after he placed 10th to qualify as an individual. The BHS boys ran and finished 8th in the team standings with 267 points.
Comfort High
Comfort’s Jackson Dear also turned in a top-10 finish at the Region 1 meet in West Texas and will run in the 3A meet, also scheduled for Oct. 31.
Both the Comfort boys and girls teams raced at regionals, but Dear was the only one to move on to the next round.
