Deer fall to Llano, Ingram in volleyball

The Comfort High volleyball team suffered two straight district losses last week after they were defeated on the road by Llano and Ingram.

Ingram wrapped up this year’s district title with last Friday’s win over Comfort. The Deer are 24-14 overall and sit at 5-3 in district after those two losses.

At 5-3, Comfort is tied with Blanco for second, but the Deer have swept the Panthers this year and own the tiebreaker on them. Llano is in fourth place at 4-4, while Florence (2-6) and Brady (0-8) are out of the playoff mix.

While the district title is out of the picture for Comfort, the good news for Comfort is that they have clinched a postseason berth, it’s just a matter of where they finish in the final standings behind Ingram.

The Deer hosted Florence Tuesday and are home Friday against Brady.

Vs. Ingram

Comfort took the Warriors to five before falling, 27-29, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 15-11.

Tindall Ahrens had a great match with 29 kills, 20 digs, 5 aces and 3 blocks.

Rylie Zuniga added 12 kills, Jordan Judkins dropped in 5 aces, Emily Hill had 4 blocks, Judkins came up with a team-high 14 digs, Savana Womble tallied 13 digs and Corrine Brown finished with 12 dig and 46 assists.

Llano pulled off the upset with a four-set victory by winning three straight games. After the Deer took the first set, 25-17, the Yellowjackets stormed back to win the next three, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22.

Tindall Ahrens paced the team with 23 digs, 21 kills and 2 blocks, Corinne Brown served up 2 aces and had 2 blocks to go with 42 assists, while Rubi Lozano recorded 23 digs.
