Boerne Champion 48, Victoria East 14

Boerne Champion picked up a much-needed win Friday after the Chargers defeated Victoria East, 48-14.

It's Champion's first home win and they did it before a homecoming crowd of 5,579.

Champion had six different players score in the game as they dominated and were up 28-7 by halftime.

The Chargers are 5-3 overall and 3-2 in district. Champion hosts Wagner on Friday and a win should clinch a playoff spot for the Chargers.

Comfort 57, Thrall 43

Comfort grabbed the Tigers by the tail and defeated Thrall, 57-43.

The Bobcats are 5-3 overall and 1-1 in district. Because Comfort is only in a five-team district, one win might get them into the playoffs.

CHS visits Lexington on Friday.

Geneva School of Boerne

The Eagles play a rare Saturday game at TMI - Episcopal this week. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Saturday night  in San Antonio.

It's a non-district game for the Eagles and they are off next Friday. They close out the regular season on Nov. 7 with a homecoming game against Corpus Christi John Paul II.

State Water Polo

The water polo teams from Boerne Champion were defeated in the state semifinals Friday at Blossom at the UIL state tournament.

The Champion boys faced League City Clear Creek and were beaten, 17-12.

The Lady Chargers faced Clute Brazoswood and were eliminated 15-8.

Both Charger squads return to Boerne with bronze medals. This is the boys' fourth straight appearance at state and the second straight year for the Lady Chargers to play at the state tourney.

Boerne 45, Veterans Memorial 27

CONVERSE - The Boerne High football team defeated Veterans Memorial Thursday at Rutledge Stadium, 45-27. It's the seventh win in a row for the Greyhounds that are 7-1 overall and 4-0 in district.

The Hounds were up 28-7 and halftime.

Boerne hosts McCollum next Thursday at BISD Stadium as they continue district play.
