Members of the local youth track and field team – the Hill Country Comets – competed at the AAU Junior Olympics in Humble.
The Comets had several members earn AAU All-American honors.
Seth Saldivar was a national champion in his age group and took first place in the discus and earned a silver medal in the shot put, while Blake Stehling picked up a silver medal in the discus and came in fifth in the shot put.
Brady Chandler finished second in the pole vault and was top 8 in the nation in his age group, while Brice Roesler placed eighth in the discus.
Skyler Fonseca took fifth in the 2000-meter steeplechase, and Annaleise Munoz was also fifth in her age group in the steeplechase.
Trey Fonseca came in sixth in the pole vault, Taylor Hale finished sixth in the high jump and Addison Knibbe placed seventh in the 3000- meter race.
Hale also placed fifth at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics held in Georgia.
