Lady Unicorns defeat Lady Chargers in three sets

The Boerne Champion volleyball team dropped its second straight match after the Lady Chargers were defeated by the Lady Unicorns Tuesday night.

New Braunfels swept Champion in straight sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-22.

The Lady Chargers are 25-7 overall and 10-5 in district. Champion closed out the regular season Friday at home against Wagner before the playoffs begin this coming week.

Once the postseason begins, it’ll be a rematch of last year’s teams in the first round as the Lady Chargers face Cedar Park for the second year in a row.

Champion and the Timberwolves meet Thursday, Oct. 30 at Buda Johnson, 6:30 p.m.

In Tuesday’s match at New Braunfels, Taylor Fenton finished with 7 kills, Cassidy Breuer added 6 kills, while Finley Weikle and Brady Cooksey recorded 5 kills apiece.

Hannah Perez dropped in 2 aces, Fenton came up with 5 blocks, Brielle Boothe came up with 18 digs and Hannah Perez chipped in with 10 digs. Cooksey also tallied 19 assists and 11 digs.
