Scott to represent Greyhounds at 5A state cross country meet

One Boerne High cross-country runner will continue his season after Brayden Scott qualified for this year’s 5A state meet after finishing in the top 10 individually at Monday’s Region IV-5A meet in Corpus Christi.

The top four teams advance to state, and the top 10 individuals not on an advancing team qualify as well.

Scott finished 10th overall at regionals and had the seventh best time among the individual runners that advanced.

The 5A state meet is set for Friday, Oct. 31 in Round Rock at Old Settler’s Park.

Varsity Boys

The Boerne boys, last year’s second-place team at state, finished eighth in the final team standings at regionals with 267 points in the field of 23 squads.

Unfortunately for the Greyhounds, they had two runners that weren’t able to finish Monday’s race.

Scott punched his ticket to state with a time of 16:33 for 10th, Barrett Crofut finished 40th with a time of 17:45, Carsten Bain was four spots back in 44th after posting a 17:48, Chase Machicek clocked in at 18:31 for 73rd and Wiley Davis completed the course in 19:01 for 104th.

Varsity Girls

Boerne High’s Presley Merkens was the only Lady Greyhound to make it to regionals and the freshman finished 29th overall in a time of 20:29.17 in the 5A race.
