Bobcats beaten 54-0, but still advance to playoffs

LEXINGTON — There was good news and bad news for the Comfort High football team after Friday’s district games.

Lexington smacked the Bobcats 54-0, but despite the loss, the Bobcats still clinched a playoff spot.

Rogers did Comfort a favor after they defeated Thrall on Friday, 55-35, to guarantee the Bobcats would advance.

Since Comfort beat Thrall earlier in the season, it was enough to get them into the postseason in a five-team district.

Comfort (5-4, 1-2) host Blanco on Friday to close out the regular season.

It was all Lexington in Friday’s game with Comfort as the Bobcats were shutout for just the second time this season.

The Eagles took control right away and were leading 21-0 by the end of the first quarter. Lexington tacked on two more TDs in the second period and held a 34-0 lead by halftime.

About the only thing the Eagles did wrong was miss the extra point on that last touchdown.

Three more scores in the second half put the final nail in the coffin on Halloween night. The last TD came with 7:34 remaining.
