Greyhounds and Bobcats send individual runners to state cross country meet
ROUND ROCK — Runners from Boerne Champion, Boerne High and Comfort High ran at Friday morning’s state cross country meet at Old Settlers Park.
Both Charger boys and girls squads ran, while individual runners from Comfort High and Boerne High raced as well.
Boerne Champion
While no medals were earned, both Champion squads did turn in top-10 finishes in the state in 5A.
The Champion boys team finished seventh with 197 points, while the Lady Chargers placed 10th with 238 points.
Shawn Edwards led the Champion boys after he was 23rd overall in a time of 16:23.9, while the Lady Chargers were paced by Rebecca Bezerra, who was 14th in a time of 18:54.
In the boys team standings, Grapevine ( 63), McAllen ( 114) and Weslaco East (129) went 1-2-3 to earn team medals.
In the girls team standings, Lucas Lovejoy (63), Smithson Valley (75) and Aledo (155) were the top three teams at the event.
Boerne High
Brayden Scott represented the Greyhounds in the 5A event and came in 48th overall in the boys race with a time of 16:26.3.
Comfort High
Jackson Dear ran for Comfort in the 3A boys race and was 70th in Round Rock with a time of 17:27.3.
