The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team tipped off their 2025-26 season this week.
The Geneva girls hosted Gloria Deo Academy Tuesday night in Boerne and lost by 20 points at 48-28 to start the season at 0-1.
The Eagles faced TMI-Episcopal Thursday as they continued non-district. In between their two regular-season games there was a scrimmage with Cornerstone on Wednesday.
Geneva fell behind early on Tuesday and trailed 22-3 at the end of the first quarter. GDA then outscored the Eagles in the second period, 8-4, for the 30-7 halftime lead.
The Eagles played better in the third quarter and won the stanza, 12-7, to cut it to 37-19. That third period was the only one Geneva won after GDA took the final quarter, 11-9.
After only scoring 7 points in the first half, the Eagles responded with 21 second- half points.
Seniors Reese Smith and Payton Boles tallied most of Geneva’s points as the two combined for 17 of their 28 points after Smith hit for 9 points and Boles tallied 8.
Lexi Oglesby, Amelia Morgan and Addison Griffey all netted 3 points as they each hit a 3-pointer, while Gaby Medrano scored 2.
Smith and Boles knocked down two 3s each, while Oglesby, Morgan and Griffey all hit a 3 as 21 of their 28 points came from beyond the arc. They made 5 free throws and only had one 2-point basket in the game.
Boles grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and blocked 3 shots, while Brooke Devries snagged 6 boards and came up with 3 steals.

The Geneva boys opened with a road trip to Austin on Tuesday to face Veritas to start the season.
