Geneva runners compete at TAPPS state XC meet

Geneva School of Boerne competed at the TAPPS state cross country meet in Waco on Oct. 27 and had one athlete place in the top 10 after Peyton Eiland finish 10th in the 4A girls two-mile race.

Varsity Girls

Peyton Eiland, just a freshman, posted a time of 13:26.26 for 10th, while Madilyn Detterick finished in 16:01, Catalina Lozada ran a 16:09, Kaitlyn Chapa recorded an 18:51, Megan Luffy ran a 19:12 and Katelyn Lindquist posted a 22:26.

Savannah Parker from Castle Hills won the race in 12:58, Elizabeth Hamblin of Pantego Christian came in second at 12:58 and Emma Lane of Schertz John Paul II was third in 13:06.

Coram Deo Academy of Plano won the meet with 74 points, The Covenant School of Dallas took second at 76 and Schertz JP II was third with 127 points.

The Geneva girls were 13th overall in the field of 18 teams.

Varsity Boys

Jonathan Taylor had the best finish for the Geneva boys after he was 26th in 19:24.20 in the 5K race. Samuel Crews posted a 20:51, Quinn Malkowski and Liam McClain finished at 21:29 and 21:30, Parker Eiland recorded a 21:55, Evan Taylor ran a 23:11 and Lucas Lozado finished with a 24:33.

Luke Scarborough of Waco Vanguard won the race in 17:03, Noah Verdin of The Covenant School of Dallas was second in 17:17 and Houston Northland Christian’s Grant Rodges placed third in 17:37.

The Covenant School of Dallas won the boys 4A title with 46 points, Midland Classical Academy placed second with 87 and Waco Vanguard captured third at 115.

The Geneva boys were 11th in the field of 24 teams.
