ROUND ROCK – Jackson Dear was the lone presentative from Comfort High to participate in last week’s 3A boys state cross country meet at Old Settlers Park.
Dear was making his first trip to state and the senior placed 70th in a time of 17:27.3 in Friday morning’s race held in Round Rock in the field of 151 runners.
Comfort cross country coach George Edwards said Dear put in the work and accomplished his goal of getting to state.
“Jackson is the personification of the old adage, ‘You get out of something what you put into it,’” Edwards said. “Jackson is one of the most dedicated athletes I’ve had the privilege to coach.”
Lytle won the boys team title with 68 points, Cole came in second at 104 and Holliday was third with 108 points despite having the top two individual finishers.
Holliday’s Noah Strohman and Ryder Strohman went 1-2 with times of 15:26.4 and 15:44.7 and Joseph Dominguez of Canadian placed third in 15:51.8.
