ROUND ROCK – Boerne High’s Brayden Scott capped his senior season by running at the 5A state cross-country meet last Friday.
Scott finished the 5K race in a time of 16:23.3 that placed him 48th overall in the field of 152 and was the only BHS runner at state.
Greyhounds’ cross country coach Chris Carter said Scott willed himself to the state meet.
“Brayden, from district onward, attacked races and put himself at the state meet. His focus and determination got him to the meet,” Carter said about Scott, who moved from California for his senior year. “Being new to Texas, it’s a huge accomplishment to get that far in his first season.”
Grapevine won the 5A boys title with 63 points, McAllen came in second at 114 and Weslaco East took third with 129 points.
Austin Anderson’s Colby Huntress won the individual title after he posted a 15:06.8 for gold, Dayton’s Jaxon Asbill was second in 15:10.3 and Tyler Connelly of Aledo placed third in 15:10.8.
