COMFORT — Comfort High hosted Blanco Friday night and the Bobcats hung with their archrival for a bit, but Blanco just had too much firepower and won the game, 45-28.

Blanco rolled to a perfect district season at 4-0 and is 8-2 overall. Comfort ended the regular season at 5-5 and went 1-3 in district.

The Bobcats will play Tidehaven in the first round of the playoffs. For more info, be sure to look in the Boerne Star.

Friday’s contest was scoreless at the end of the first quarter as Comfort traded punches with the Panthers.

The Bobcats actually scored first in the game after Omar Rivera busted loose on a 49-yard scamper for the 7-0 lead.

Blanco responded with the next two touchdowns and took a 14-7 lead into halftime. Broderick Siwecki ran it in from nine yards and then Panthers Colton Kuebel caught a short TD pass from Eli Walker.

Once the second half started, Kuebel found the end zone again and built the Blanco lead to 21-7.

Carter Pape answered for the Bobcats with a 70-yard TD run and the Panthers advantage was back down to seven points at 21-14.

But Blanco had the next three scores with two touchdowns and field goal for 17 points and started to pull away at 38-14 with 7:02 left in the contest.

Comfort tallied two late touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to catch their opponents.

Gabriel Gonzalez tallied an 18-yard TD run and Aiden King also found the end zone with less than a minute left, while Blanco added a late rushing touchdown.

Rivera and Pape had a good night running the ball after Rivera rolled to 182 yards on 11 carries, and Pape added 146 yards on 19 totes.
