SAN ANTONIO - Champion rolled in its playoff opener Thursday at Dragons Stadium.

The Chargers defeated Southwest at Dragons Stadium, 41-14, and improved to 8-3 overall. Champion has won five straight games and Thursday's playoff victory is their first since 2021 when they defeated Mercedes.

Champion scored on its first four possessions and took a 27-0 lead into halftime. Both teams tallied 14 points in the second half in the game that barely lasted two hours.

The Chargers will face a Valley school in the next round and are looking at playing in Laredo next Friday.

The Tigers beat up the Bobcats 62-7 as Comfort ends its season at 5-6.
