Lady Hounds splits first two games of new season

Boerne High opened its 2025-26 girls basketball season by splitting its first two games.

The Lady Hounds dropped their home opener to McCollum last Saturday by three points and went on the road Tuesday and hammered Holmes by almost 50 points.

BHS is 1-1 to start the year and played Churchill Friday at Greyhound Gym.

Vs. Holmes

The Lady Hounds hit double digits in all four quarters on their way to a 74-27 victory.

BHS had a fast start and jumped out to a 20-4 lead by the end of the first period, and then the teams both netted 10 points in the second to give Boerne the 30-14 advantage.

Once the second half started, Boerne turned in its best quarter of the night and scored 27 points, while holding the Huskies to 6 points for the 57-20 lead.

The Lady Hounds closed out the final stanza by outscoring Holmes, 17-7, at Tuesday’s game held at Paul Taylor Field House.

BHS had a good night shooting and went 17 for 34 from 2-point range and made nine 3-pointers in the game. They also went 13 for 20 at the line for 65 percent.

Boerne had four in double figures after Sutherlin Menn netted 20, Addison Saur scored 17 and Addison Palluch and Hartlee Menn both dropped in a dozen.

JT Hernandez tallied 7 points, while Melia Gonzalez and Ryan Cooper chipped in with 3 points apiece.

BHS played catch-up the rest of the way but couldn’t quite catch the Cowgirls.
