Geneva girls at Cornerstone tournament

The effort is there for the Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team, but they just haven’t been able to notch that first win.

Geneva played in the Cornerstone Warrior Classic last weekend and went 0-4 to stand at 0-7 overall.

The Eagles are off until they visit Incarnate Word on Monday, Dec. 1.

At the tourney, Geneva lost to Cornerstone, 86-25, and were led in scoring by Brooke Devries with 8 points.

The Eagles couldn’t keep pace with Pace and fell to them, 53-36.

Payton Boles paced Geneva with 10 points and Brooke Devries finished with 9 points, while Sopris Oglesby added 7.

Up next was a match up against Canyon Lake that the Hawks took 42-35.

Payton Boles scored almost half their points after she netted 15, while Amelia Morgan, Sopris Oglesby and Lexi Oglesby all tallied 5 points apiece.

The Eagles came close to winning their last game of the tourney but fell to Lockhart, 42-41.

Sopris Oglesby finished with 13 points, Brooke Devries added 9 and Payton Boles netted 8.

Devries also grabbed 14 rebounds, while Sopris Oglesby snagged 10 boards.
