‘Tis the season! Come and enjoy “A Very Merry Christmas Concert” by the Boerne Concert Band, directed by Larry Schmidt, on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. in the Boerne High School auditorium.
Musical selections include highlights from “Frozen,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Polar Express,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “A Christmas Festival,” “Faeries,” “Greensleeves” and more.
The Boerne Ukuladies will also be performing Christmas favorites in the foyer starting at 3:15 p.m. for the audience to sing along with as they arrive.
The holiday concert poster shows the Nutcracker decked out in the colors from the movie “Frozen” since selections are planned for the performance.
Please remember the Hill Country Council for the Arts is again partnering with the Cibolo Creek Quilters Guild and Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries to fulfill our goal of providing 150 individually created stockings — filled to overflowing — to the women of Kendall County Women’s Shelter and the Hill Country Pregnancy Center.
We encourage our local businesses to assist with small giveaways. In-kind donations of coupons to use at local Hill Country businesses are also appreciated. Donations of $100, to cover the cost of items purchased for the stockings and fillers, are also welcome.
Call Rob Ziegler, 210422-5296, if you have items to donate, or mail checks to: HCCArts, Attention: Stocking Stuffer Program, P.O. Box 2024, Boerne TX 78006.
We at HCCArts are happy to welcome Heather Bateman to our board. She is especially interested in the newly conceived HCCA Cinema, encouraging young filmmakers to create and submit short films for film nights, as well as family nights to view classics under the stars, at The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center.
Now in its 24th year, the Hill Country Council for the Arts mission is to support and promote the Arts in the Texas Hill Country by enhancing awareness, developing opportunities and encouraging financial support — fostering an inclusive environment for artists and the public, promoting arts education through classes and workshops, and building a thriving, accessible arts culture for the community.
