Geneva School of Boerne returned from the Thanksgiving break, and both varsity basketball teams were in action on Tuesday.
Varsity Boys
The Geneva boys were on the road Tuesday and traveled to Stockdale where the Brahmas defeated the Eagles, 48-35.
Geneva had a good start and was up 15-7 at the end of the first quarter, but Stockdale outscored them in the second, 10-7, and the Eagles’ lead was down to five points by halftime, 22-17.
Stockdale caught Geneva in the third after winning the quarter by doubling the Eagles 16-8 and was on top, 33-30.
From there, the Brahmas pulled away after outscoring the Eagles in the fourth quarter, 15-5.
Geneva will begin district play next week and hosts Schertz John Paul II on Tuesday.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Eagles are still searching for that elusive first win and were hoping to get it Tuesday at Incarnate Word, but the Lady Shamrocks won, 49-37.
Geneva is 0-8 and plays in the Brentwood Christian tournament this weekend before opening district play on Tuesday at home against Schertz John Paul II as part of a doubleheader with the boys team.
The Eagles had a fast start Tuesday and were leading 14-7 at the end of the opening stanza but only hit double digits in one other quarter.
Geneva was held to 7 points in the second period but was still leading at halftime, 21-18, after the Shamrocks won the stanza, 11-7.
Incarnate Word took the third quarter, 18-12, and jumped ahead of the Eagles by the end of the period, 36-33.
The Shamrocks put it away from there by winning the fourth quarter, 13-4.
Sopris Oglesby paced Geneva with 13 points and 13 rebounds for a double- double and also came up with 4 steals and an assist.
Amelia Morgan added 8 points, Payton Boles scored 6 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, Brooke Devries netted 4 points and collected 7 rebounds, while Addison Griffey, Carlyle Harden and Lexi Ogelsby all chipped in with 2 points.
