Geneva School of Boerne opened district play Tuesday at home against Schertz John Paul II and fell to the Guardians, 65–33.
The Eagles are 4-8 overall and 0-1 in district. They hit the road for the Snook Tournament this weekend and return home Tuesday to face district foe New Braunfels Christian Academy.
Geneva boys coach Julius McNeal said his 2025-26 Eagles are a notably young team. The coach said they only have one senior this year, a stark contrast to last season’s experienced group that advanced to the state semifinals.
With four sophomores contributing key varsity minutes, McNeal views this season as an opportunity for growth and long-term development.
“These guys could end up playing over 100 varsity games in their careers,” he said. “This season is about rebuilding, gaining experience and growing together.”
In Tuesday’s contest, Geneva kept the game close through the first half with disciplined defense and controlled tempo. However, in the second half, the Guardians’ depth and scoring runs proved too much for the Eagles to overcome.
Noah Brunsvold led Geneva in scoring with 13 points.
