THE BOOKWORM
My co-workers Alison and Sarah worked diligently to pull together statistics and gather book favorites from the staff. They’ve put them into wonderful graphics on our library’s social media pages.
For 2025 the books with the highest circulation by patrons were “Strangers in Time,” by David Baldacci, “Battle Mountain,” by C.J. Box and “The Women,” by Kristin Hannah.
Please look at our staff ’s picks when you get the chance.
• Librarian Leslie Kirk selected “A Walk in the Park: The True Story of a Spectacular Misadventure in the Grand Canyon,” by Kevin Fedarko.
• Cassidy Herrera of the children’s department cites “The City of Bones,” by Cassandra Clare and “The Knight and the Moth,” by Rachel Gillig as two of her 2025 favorites.
With a week or so left this year, there’s still time to find your new favorite book. Recently I began reading “Mona’s Eyes,” by Thomas Schlesser. In this novel, a young girl is affected by temporary blindness.
Worried she will lose her sight again, her grandfather takes Mona to a different museum in Paris once a week to show her some of the world’s most famous paintings, and teach her about how to truly “see” art. This is a touching story about the relationship between a curmudgeonly older man and the granddaughter he loves.
All the above books are cataloged in the library, if you would like to read any of them.
What was your favorite book of 2025? I’d like to know; e-mail me at creech@boernelibrary. org with your suggestions, so I can add them to my 2026 “To be read” stack.
