Bobcats beat Stacey Friday at home

The Comfort High boys basketball team closed out the week with its second win in a row.

CHS beat Dilley on the road Tuesday (78-46) and then defeated S.A. Stacey at home last Friday, 48-45.

Comfort is 10-6 overall and plays in the Randolph Tournament on Dec. 29-30.

Against Stacey, Comfort was trailing 14-8 at the end of one but had a great second quarter and outscored their opponents in the period, 17-6, for the 25-20 halftime lead.

The teams were pretty even the rest of the way, and the Bobcats won the third quarter by a point, 13-12, and went up 38-32 going into the final period.

In that fourth quarter, Stacey made a push and outscored Comfort but only by three points, 13-10, and the Bobcats held on for the win.

Jared Valadez paced Comfort with 14 points and 6 rebounds, both team highs.

Jovani Zapata added 10 points, Mario Portugal finished with 9 points, Dmitry Steward netted 5, Alex Padilla and Jackson Dear both scored 4 and Gabriel Gonzalez hit for 2 points.

Dear came up with three steals and Padilla blocked 4 shots.
