Boerne plays, actors up for BroadwayWorld SA awards

SAN ANTONIO — “The Mousetrap,” performed on the Boerne Community Theatre stage in May, was nominated for 13 BroadwayWorld San Antonio awards and is hovering in the number one spot in most categories.

“The Mousetrap” is joined by several other BCT productions in BroadwayWorld SA, a tribute to local plays and musicals performed each year.

Voting in the 202425 BroadwayWorld San Antonio regional awards continues through Dec. 31. “The Mousetrap” represented one of BCT’s most popular, well-attended and lucrative plays for the BCT in the past few years.

Along with nominations for Best Play, The Mousetrap was nominated for: Best Ensemble; Jessica Mewborne for Best Costume Design; Daniel Heggem for Best Lighting Design; Dylan Byrnes for Best Sound Design; Robert Moritz for Best Scenic Design; Taylor Lueckenotte, Jeffery Hensel and Donna Provencher all nominated for Best Performer; and Keisha McFerrin, D.J. Bohman and Kareem Abu Dahab all nominated for Best Supporting Performer.

Provencher is also up in the Best Director category with co-director Barry Goettl.

Besides Boerne Community Theatre being nominated for Favorite Local Theatre, also nominated from BCT are:

• Best Play: Tacky Gardens; The Mountain King.

• Best New Play: Tacky Gardens; The Mountain King.

• Best Performer In a Play: Davis Hayes, The Mountain King; Ila Handy, Tacky Gardens; Steve Harris, The Mountain King.

• Best Supporting Performer: James Augustine, Tacky Gardens.

• Best Direction: Allen Rudolph, Tacky Gardens; Jeffery Hansel, The Mountain King.

• Best Scenic Design: Allen Rudolph, Tacky Gardens.

• Best Lighting Design: Devin Vanderveer, The Mountain King.

• Best Sound Design: Allen Rudolph, Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Boerne Christmas.
