Boerne Champion posted a perfect record at the Boerne ISD Holiday Tournament after the Chargers boys team went 4-0 at the event.
Champion’s four wins pushed their record to 14-7 overall. The Chargers were back in action Friday at New Braunfels and host Wagner on Tuesday.
At the tourney, Champion defeated Corpus Christi Ray by 20 points on the first day, 66-46. Later that afternoon, the Chargers knocked off El Paso Burgess, 62-44. On the second day of the tourney, Champion faced Roosevelt and rode past the Roughriders, 77-34, to go 3-0.
That left Pleasanton on the schedule for Tuesday afternoon, but the Eagles weren’t there for their 4:30 p.m. tip off.
The schedule was shuffled around, and the Champion vs. Pleasanton game was moved up from 6 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., but the Eagles were still out eating lunch at a sandwich shop in town at 4 p.m., thinking they weren’t going to play until 6 p.m.
Pleasanton finally made it to the gym, and the game tipped off by 5 p.m. The Eagles were clipped by the Chargers, 37-30.
