Boerne Champion had a fast start to the 2026 girls soccer season after the Lady Chargers captured first place at the Shotwell Tournament in Abilene last weekend.
The Chargers went undefeated and took first place at the event after winning all four matches. Champion is 4-0 and off until they open district play on Jan. 13 at Veterans Memorial.
Champion enters the 2026 season ranked No. 20 in the first Texas Girls Coaches Association poll released on Jan. 5.
At the tourney, Champion’s Lily Alejo, Daylynn Carpenter, Macy O’Dell and Jayme Harrell were named to the all-tournament team.
Champion defeated West Plains, 3-0, to open the season on New Year’s Day. The Chargers followed that up with a 4-2 over Liberty on Friday and then closed it out on Saturday with an 8-0 victory over Lake Worth and a 3-1 win against Midland Legacy.
Against West Plains, the Chargers tallied a single goal in the first half and then added two more in the final 40 minutes.
Champion was trailing against Liberty 2-1, but outscored the Patriots in the second half, 3-0.
The Chargers tallied 7 goals in the first half against Lake Worth and knocked in one goal in the second half against the Bullfrogs.
Against Midland Legacy, Champion was up 1-0 at halftime and then outscored the Rebels in the second half, 2-1.
