Boerne Champion challenged New Braunfels Tuesday night in district soccer action and the Unicorns were able to defeat the Chargers on the boys and girls side.
Champion played Wagner Friday and closes out the first round of district with matches against Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday.
Varsity Boys
The Chargers were at New Braunfels and took a 1-0 lead, but the Unicorns outscored Champion 4-1 the rest of the way. It was 3-2 at one point, but the Unicorns added a late goal to seal the victory.
Champion has dropped three straight in 26-5A and slips to 2-4 in district and is 6-6 overall. They hosted Wagner Friday and visit Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday.
Bryce Knell and Diego Flores tallied the two goals for the Chargers.
Varsity Girls
New Braunfels recorded a 1-0 shutout of the Lady Chargers Tuesday in Boerne.
Champion slips to 1-4-1 in 26-5A and is 5-4-1 overall. They’ve dropped three in a row in 26-5A and tied before that. They hoped to bounce back Friday at Wagner. After that, they’ll host Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday.
