Charger soccer teams whip Wagner

Boerne Champion faced Wagner in boys and girls soccer last Friday and swept the Thunderbirds to pick up district wins.

The Chargers faced Kerrville Tivy Tuesday to close out the first round of district and then begin the second round of 26-5A action against Veterans Memorial Friday.

Varsity Boys

Champion defeated Wagner 10-2 and kicked in the mercy rule with just a few minutes left.

Kefe Omokuru finished with a hat trick and tallied 3 goals, while Christian Sommer, Diego Flores, Bryce Knell, Ethan Souza, Alister Clyne and Evan Riebel added single goals and there was also an own goal by the Thunderbirds.

Jones Ferguson finished with 2 assists, Aki Koo, Diego Flores, Will Hankins, Alister Clyne and Emilio Linaje all recorded assists as well.

The Chargers are 7-6 overall and 3-4 in district. They were at Kerrville Tivy Tuesday and visit Veterans Memorial Friday.

Varsity Girls

Champion was at Wagner and also kicked in the mercy rule after they recorded an 8-0 win over the Lady Thunderbirds.

The Lady Chargers snapped a five-game stretch without a district win and improved to 2-4-1 in 26-5A (6-4-1 overall). They hosted Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday and are at home Friday against Veterans Memorial.

Jessica McKenzie and Maggie Hall both knocked in 2 goals, while Grace Johnson, Claire McClain, Lily Alejo and Kylie Rose all tallied single goals.

Alejo and Kylee Holt finished with 2 assists apiece, while McKenzie, Johnson and McClain had 1 assist as well.
