Comfort High was on the road last Friday for a couple of varsity basketball games at Llano.
There were mixed results after the boys won, and the girls fell to the Yellowjackets.
Varsity Boys
Comfort defeated the Yellowjackets, 57-35, and stayed in second place in the district standings at 6-1. The Bobcats (21-9 overall) were home Tuesday to host Brady and visit Florence on Friday.
Comfort had a fast start and dropped in 19 in the first quarter and 21 in the second for a 40-11 lead at halftime.
Llano didn’t hit double figures in a quarter until the third when they netted 10 and outscored the Bobcats by a point, 10-9. The Yellowjackets closed it out by winning the final stanza, 14-8, but the Cats still coasted to a comfortable win.
Varsity Girls
A win would have helped Comfort’s playoff chances, but first-place Llano prevented that from happening with a 43-28 victory over the Deer.
Comfort dropped to 2-7 in district (5-17 overall) but still had a chance for a playoff spot heading into Tuesday’s regular-season finale.
The 2-7 Deer hosted 3-6 Brady on Tuesday. Comfort needed to win to tie the Lady Bulldogs for fourth place in the standings and force a play-in game for the final spot up for grabs.
Brady beat Comfort in their first meeting on Jan. 23, 37-26.
