Summers advances to state for Greyhound swim team

SAN ANTONIO - The Boerne High swim program competed at last weekend’s Region 7-5A meet and had one swimmer qualify for state.

Junior Lauren Summers advanced in the 100-yard breaststroke after placing 4th with a time of 1:07.89.

The top two finishers in each event make it to state and the next eight fastest times, regardless of region, make it as well, and Summers qualified.

This year’s 5A state meet will be Feb. 20-21 on the UT campus in Austin.

Both Greyhound teams finished 12th in the final standings after the Boerne girls tallied 103 points and the BHS boys recorded 33 points.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Hounds finished 6th in the 200-medley relay after Brinley Robinson, Lauren Summers, Sarah Heilesen and Kendall Gray turned in a 1:55.

Abigail Jendrusch was 6th in the B finals of the 200 free with a 2:11 and Ansley Schiller posted a 2:31 in the 200 IM for 6th in the B finals.

Lauren Summers placed 8th in the 50 free of the A finals with a 26.08, Kendall Gray was 6th in the B finals of the 50 free with a 26.60 and Brinley Robinson was 8th in the B finals after recording a 27.15.

Schiller finished 6th in the B finals of the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:10 and Karen Gray placed 5th in the B finals of the 500 freestyle with a 5:59.

In the 200-free relay, Robinson, Michelle Mendoza, Kendall Gray and Ashlyn Jendrusch teamed up for 2nd in the B finals after combining for a 1:47.

Robinson placed 4th in the B finals of the 100 back with a 1:05 and Ashlyn Jendrusch was 8th in the B finals of the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.

BHS finished 2nd in the B finals of the 400-yard freestyle relay after Karen Gray, Abigail Jendrusch, Michelle Mendoza and Ashlyn Jendrusch teamed up for a 4:04.

Varsity Boys

In the 200-medley relay, Zayden Arnold, Zac Pyle, Cannon Kunz and Riley Walters teamed up for 3rd in the B finals with a time of 1:59.

Kunz finished 7th in the B finals of the 50 free after posting a 24.99 and Kunz was also 6th in the B finals of the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Zac Pyle, Zayden Arnold, Riley Walters and Cannon Kunz placed 3rd in the B finals with a time of 1:45.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Tanner Smith, Dustin Farar, Parker Smith and Peyton Dadd combined to finish 7th after posting a 4:15.
