Geneva earns two gold medals at TAPPS state swim meet

Geneva School of Boerne concluded its 2026 swim season at the TAPPS state championships in San Antonio this week.

The Eagles sent eight swimmers to state and all performed well after one of the boys’ relays and an individual swimmer earned gold medals by winning their respective races.

In the final team standings, the Geneva boys were fifth out of 33 teams and the Lady Eagles were eighth in the field of 33 teams.

Varsity Boys

The Geneva boys 200-freestyle relay of Shae McNew, Samuel Crews, Chase Doran and Reid Wilson captured first to win gold, while Wilson also earned gold in the boys 100 breaststroke for the school’s second state gold medal.

In the 200-medley relay, McNew, Crews, Wilson and Doran claimed 6th place, while Wilson just missed out on another medal after he finished 4th in the 50 freestyle.

McNew placed 7th in the 50 free, was 6th in the 100 freestyle and Crews finished 16th in the 100 free.

Varsity Girls

The 200-freestyle relay of AnnaClaire Bussey, Ruby Svendsen, Ella Owens and Abigail Bussey came in 8th, and the two Bussey girls, along with Svendsen and Owens teamed up to finish 6th in the 200-medley relay.

The Bussey’s just missed out on a couple of bronze medals after Abigail Bussey was 4th in the 200 individual medley and AnnaClaire Bussey came in 4th in the 100 freestyle.

Abigail Bussey placed 7th in the 50 freestyle, Svendsen came in 8th in the 100 breaststroke and AnnaClaire Bussey finished 11th in the 100 backstroke.
