Greyhounds fall to Unicorns in overtime

The Boerne High boys put up quite a fight against playoff-bound New Braunfels Tuesday night at Greyhound Gym and even took the game to overtime, before the Unicorns prevailed, 68-56.

BHS drops to 4-10 in district and 14-18 overall. The Greyhounds have two games left on the schedule and hosted Wagner Friday and then visit Kerrville Tivy on Tuesday to close out the season.

Boerne was up at halftime on Tuesday, 24-22, and then took a 42-37 lead into the fourth quarter after the Greyhounds won the third, 18-15.

BHS went up by 7 points in the quarter, 46-39, but a 5-point spurt by the Unicorns cut it to two points, 46-44.

The Unicorns tied it at 50-50 and then went up 51-50. The Greyhounds made a free throw to tie it at 51-51, and it went to overtime from there.

NB scored the first 8 points of OT to pull ahead 59-51, and from that point, went on to outscore BHS, 9-5, to seal the win after they won the extra stanza, 17-5.

Prior to Tuesday, the Greyhounds took on Pieper and lost to the Warriors, 70-54.
