It’s not a surprise to us; the Friends of the Boerne Public Library are so supportive in many ways. They recently gave a generous donation to purchase books for the adult section, and quite a few of those will be new mysteries for the shelves.
The mystery genre is one of the most popular sections within the library, so we’re grateful to receive the “facelift” to this area.
Some of the new mysteries will complete current series on the shelves. For instance, did you know there is a mystery series set around a Bookmobile? It’s by Ian Sansom, and we’ve ordered the rest of the books to complete the “Mobile Library Mystery Series.”

With the popularity of the recent Netflix show “Dept. Q,” we’ve ordered the books to finish out this series by Jussi Adler-Olsen.
We’re also adding new series to the collection such as the “Electra McDonnell Series” by Ashley Weaver, revolving around a safecracker turned sleuth during World War II. “A Peculiar Combination” is the first title in this series.
If culinary mysteries appeal to you, the “American in Paris” series by Colleen Cambridge is set post-World War II, in which Julia Child makes appearances.
The above mysteries and many more are being cataloged right now, and you should be able to find them on the mystery shelves very soon.
If you happen to run into any of the Friends volunteers working at The Bookshop Under the Windmill, please tell them, “Thank you!” for all they do — the funds they raise come back to the library on many worthwhile projects.
