Boerne High had 30 football players and its coach receive postseason district awards in 13-5A DII.
BHS coach Brett Sawyer was Coach of the Year, while Grant Sweeney was named Offensive MVP and Blake Burkholder was voted as the Defensive MVP.
Beau Dayoc was a firstteam tight end, while Eli Nikolas and Will Traylor were both first-team receivers. Aidan Riebel was a first-team center, while Jonny Waters and Zayden Biela were both first-team lineman.
Jeff Morrison was a second- team running back, Zach Freasier was a second-team wide receiver, Trysten Biela was a second-team lineman and Callan Combs was a second- team wildcard.
Defensively, Cash Gatlin was a first-team defensive lineman, Cooper Thompson was a first-team linebacker, while Kole Traylor and Jake Perez were first-team defensive backs and Hadden Silva was a first-team utility player.
Logan Lewis was a second- team lineman, while Robert Estes and Ben Bays were second-team linebackers. Bobby Jett Wilkinson was a second-team defensive back and Rory Hotchkin was a second-team wildcard.
Honorable mention picks for the Greyhounds included Brock Hierholzer, Ryan Castro, Diego Jimenez, CJ Smith, Hudson Bruce, Jackson Hicks, Parker Young and Ronald Smith.
The Greyhounds had another great season and won their third regional title in four seasons. Boerne finished the year at 13-2 and won district with a 6-0 mark. They won four playoff games, including beating Alamo Heights in a classic in the fourth round at Alamo Stadium, 56-49, before losing to Richmond Randle in the state semis.
