runs in two games
Geneva School of Boerne picked up two wins in softball this week and scored 18 runs in both games as the Eagles run ruled their opponents.
Geneva beat CC John Paul II on Tuesday in a district game, 18-3, and then defeated Lutheran Wednesday in a non-district contest, 18-4.
The Eagles are 1-2 in district (2-2 overall) and visited CC JPII on Friday.
Vs CC JP II
Geneva was trailing 2-0 before they scored 2 runs in the third for the 3-2 lead. JP II tied it with a run in the top of the fourth, and then the Eagles pulled away with 15 runs in the bottom half of the inning and sent 19 batters to the plate before the game ended.
The Eagles finished with 9 hits in the game, including triples from Carlyle Harden and Reese Smith. Harden also doubled, drove in 4 runs and scored a run, while Smith picked up 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
Carolyn Lutz doubled and hit 2 singles, collected 4 RBI and scored a run, Katelyn Lindquist doubled and scored twice, Lila Fleming recorded an RBI, Gracyn Miller singled and score 2 runs, Megan Egli singled and scored, Landry Smith walked twice and scored 2 runs, Kendall Sehlke walked, pushed in 2 runs and scored twice, while Hayes Harden took 2 walks, drove in 2 runs and scored 2 runs.
Fleming threw 67 pitches in the game and gave up 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and struck out 5 batters.
Vs. Lutheran
The Eagles banged out 18 hits to get their 18 runs and scored in all four innings.
Reese Smith almost hit for the cycle and registered an inside-the-park home run, a triple and a double. Smith drove in 3 runs and scored 3 times.
Carlyle almost hit for the cycle as well after she recorded a triple, double and single, pushed in 3 runs and scored twice.
Carolyn Lutz doubled, singled, knocked in 2 runs and scored a run, Gracyn Miller doubled, hit 2 singles, collected 2 RBI and scored 2 runs, Lilly Jones doubled, had 3 RBI and scored a run, while Lila Fleming hit 3 singles, picked up 2 RBI and scored once.
Maya Thomson threw 5 innings and gave up 5 hits, 3 earned runs and struck out 4.
