Champion competed at the NEISD track and field meet held March 19 at Heroes Stadium where both varsity teams placed second.
The Chargers returned to Heroes last week for another meet and will race at the Clemens meet this week, while others will compete at the Texas Relays.
Results (top 6) Varsity Boys
The Champion boys team took 2nd (109.50) behind Clemens (123.50) and ahead of Madison (101).
Brogan Dempsey won the 100 (11.18) and Cal Isley was 5th (11.34), while Ryan McDonald finished 4th in the 200 (22.96).
Jaxon Harbuck (51.22) and Zach Smith (51.69) went 4-5 in the 400 and Abhiram Bhogireddy placed 6th in the 800 (2:01), while Landon Siwek was 6th in the 110 hurdles (16.59).
The 4x100 finished 1st (42.07), the 4x200 was also 1st (1:28) and the 4x400 came in 3rd (3:27).
In field events, Korbin Buchanan tied for 5th in the high jump (6-0), freshman Ryder Flugence placed 2nd in the long jump (219) and came in 4th in the triple jump (43-2.5), while sophomore Blake Stehling won the discus (163-9) and also took first in the shot put (55-4).
Varsity Girls
The Lady Chargers were second (93) behind Medina Valley (184.33) and ahead of O’Connor (74).
Mikayla Green placed 3rd in the 200 (26.40), Michelle Cerna finished 5th in the 400 (1:00), Emma Radtke won the 800 (2:19) and Radtke also came in 2nd in the 1600 (5:15), while Abigail Clark was 2nd in the 3200 (12:08).
Addison Davis took 3rd in the 100 hurdles (16.92) and Kinsley Graff landed in 6th (17.26), while Davis (48.76) and Maelee Mares (49.14) went 4-5 in the 300 hurdles.
Champion’s 4x200 came in 3rd (1:47) and the 4x400 registered a 2nd-place finish (4:08).
In field events, Maelee Mares placed 2nd in the high jump (5-0) and Jenna Koepke was 6th (4-10), while Cassidy Breuer was 2nd in the long jump (17-9.25) and Breuer also finished 6th in the triple jump (34-3).
