The Comfort softball team played better in its second meeting with Florence last Friday, but the Deer still couldn’t overcome the Lady Buffaloes.
Florence recorded a 24-2 win on Tuesday, but the Deer competed better last Friday and tallied 10 runs in a 20-10 setback to the Lady Buffs.
Comfort slipped to 1-4 in district (12-14 overall) and faces Ingram Moore twice this week. The Deer were on the road Tuesday and will host Thursday’s contest.
Last Friday’s contest was tied at 7-7 in the middle of the second inning, but Florence outscored the Deer 13-5 down the stretch to record the win.
Comfort knocked out 12 hits in the game and was led at the plate by Ella Thiele, who homered, drove in 2 runs and scored twice.
Mariah McCollough hit 3 singles, scored 2 runs and picked up an RBI, Taygan Rust also finished with 3 hits and she scored a run, Bliss Neal singled, drove in 2 runs and scored once, Jordan Judkins knocked out 3 singles and a run scored, while McKenzie Pankratz hit 2 singles and drove in 2 runs.
Bella Hernandez scored a run, Moorea Davis and Paige Werner both singled and Werner pushed in a run, while Davis scored once.
Esme Camacho tossed 4 innings, while Werner went an inning in the circle.
