CC Incarnate Word pitcher one hits Geneva softball team

Corpus Christi Incarnate Word Academy pitcher Arisela Perez is having a great season, especially in district play where Perez boasts a 0.44 earned run average.

The sophomore pitched a great game against the Geneva School of Boerne softball last Friday in Corpus Christi and tossed a one hitter to help the Angels win in six innings, 10-0.

Geneva slips to 1-2 in district (2-2 overall). The Eagles hosted New Braunfels Christian on Monday, San Antonio Christian on Tuesday in a non-district game and resumes district action on Thursday at Schertz John Paul II.

Caroline Lutz recorded Geneva’s only hit in last Friday’s game and it came in the fifth inning. Before that, Perez and the IWA defense retired the first 13 batters they faced.

Lutz ended up being Geneva’s only base runner of the game since Perez didn’t walk a batter and the Angels didn’t commit an error.

Lila Fleming threw for Geneva and scattered 10 hits, gave up 7 earned runs, 5 walks and struck out 5.
