Greyhounds compete at Steele track meet

Boerne High competed at the Steele track and field meet where the Lady Hounds placed third with 81 points and the BHS boys were fifth with 64 points.

The Texas Relays are scheduled for this weekend in Austin and BHS will have a few athletes entered in the event. The girls 4x400 of Bella Pettet, Penelope Kirk, Sutton Amerman and Presley Merkens will race, while Pettet will compete in the long jump and Brayden Scott will race in the 2K steeple chase.

Steele Results Varsity Girls

Mallory Miles placed 2nd in the high jump (5-0) and Maci Wells cleared 4-10 for 7th, while Bella Pettet finished 5th in the long jump (16-4).

Presley Merkens and Sutton Amerman grabbed the top two spots in the 800 after Merkens recorded a 2:16 and Amerman clocked in at 2:20, while Amerman won the 400 (58.39) and Merkens was 3rd (59.23).

Kelsey Farar came in 4th in the 3200 (12:31) and placed 5th in the 1600 (5:36), while Bethanee Lozano finished 5th in the 200 (27.78).

Victoria Varga, Bella Pettet, Ocean Valenciano and Prisca Igbo teamed up for 5th in the 4x100 (50.52), while Maddie Freeman, Bella Pettet, Bethanee Lozano and Varga combined for 3rd in the 4x200 (1:46) Averley Bruce came in 3rd in the 100 hurdles (16.24) and was 4th in the 300 hurdles (47.63), while Brei Johnson placed 5th in the 300 hurdles (47.74).

Varsity Boys

Ryan Naylor took 1st in the shot put (48-7) and Cash Gatlin was 3rd (46-10), while Wyatt Burkholder came 4th in the discus (135-6).

Ronnie Brooks finished 5th in the long jump (20-5) and Tobin Huebner (40-4) and Kaedy Katzer (39-5.75) went 4-5 in the triple jump.

Aaron Garcia and Brayden Scott claimed the top two spots in the 1600 after Garcia ran a 4:27 and Scott posted a 4:29, while Garcia and Scott finished 2nd and 3rd in the 3200 after Garcia recorded a 10:01 and Scott finished in 10:04.

Julian Wasel came in 4th in the 800 (2:07).
