After a week off, the Geneva School of Boerne baseball team returned to action Monday by hosting New Braunfels Christian Academy.
The time off didn’t hurt the Eagles as they went on to run rule the Wildcats, 12-2, in five innings.
Geneva improved to 2-2 in district (9-7 overall) and was scheduled to play Thursday vs. Schertz JP II but the game was moved to Monday in Boerne, 6 p.m.
The Eagles were up 9-2 by the third inning and outhit the Wildcats 10-2. They were led at the plate by Chase Doran, who hit 3 singles, drove in a run and scored twice, while Levi McPherson tripled and doubled, picked up 2 RBI and scored 3 runs as the duo accounted for 5 of their 10 hits.
Gray Bruner singled, drove in 2 runs and scored a run, Robert Jons singled, had an RBI and scored once, Bryce Hanover picked up an RBI and scored a run, TJ Cross singled, scored and pushed in a run, Brady Chandler singled and scored and Harris Priesmeyer singled, drove in a run and plated 2 runs.
Hanover scattered 2 hits in four innings of work on the mound and gave up 2 runs, 2 walks and struck out 7. McPherson pitched one frame, fanned one and walked a batter, didn’t give up a hit or a run and received help from a double play.
