Bobcats run rule eighth straight opponent

So far, it’s been smooth sailing for the Comfort High baseball team in district play and even before that.

The Bobcats have won their three district games via the run rule, and their latest victim was visiting Ingram Moore on Tuesday.

Comfort whipped the Warriors, 14-1, and has run ruled their last eight opponents going back to March 6. The Bobcats improved to 3-0 in district (16-2-1 overall) and closed out their series with Ingram Thursday at home. They’ll play a series with Brady this coming week.

In Tuesday’s contest, Comfort was up 6-0, going into the fourth frame and then blew it open with 8 runs in the inning for the 14-0 lead. The Warriors scored their only run in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the mercy rule from kicking in.

The ’Cats tallied 9 hits in the game and were paced by Gunner Carpenter offensively and defensively. Carpenter was the winning pitcher and only gave up 1 hit, 3 walks and struck out 10 batters.

Offensively, Carpenter helped his cause with a 2-run home run in the second. He also walked 3 times and scored 3 runs.

Leadoff hitter Mason Matt finished with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored, Matt Kemp hit 2 singles and scored 2 runs, Augie Diaz de Villegas hit 2 singles, picked up an RBI and scored a run.

Mason Matter pushed in 2 runs and scored 2 runs, Owen Schulze singled, had an RBI and scored a run, Travis Gwaltney singled, walked and collected 2 RBI, Cade Woerner walked and scored, while Dax Stehling recorded an RBI.
